SEAT Part Number System

The part number is read in several blocks . First, there are three blocks with 3 characters each . Followed by  (but not all the time) an index in place 10 and 11 , then ( only if necessary ) an identifier such as for color or software versions for control units .

An example of a control unit:

Initial    Central     End Digits    Index     Software Version
5K0                        937            087                         AC                      Z15

INITIAL DIGITS

The two numbers on the farthest left of the Initial Digits are characterized by the type of vehicle, e.g;
!L = Toledo
1H = Golf III / A3 – VW330
1J = Golf IV / A4 - PQ34
3B = Passat / B5
8L = Audi A3 / PQ34
1M = Seat Leon / PQ34
17 = Golf I / A1 - Typ17
19 = Golf II / A2 - VW320 - 19E
The number next to these first 2 digits  refers to the Body Shape (the variants passenger cars, excluding vans/ trucks)
0 = General, 1 = LHD vehicle, 2= RHD, 3 = Two-door, 4= Four-door, 5 = Notchback, 6 = Hatchback, 7 = Special Form, (Convertible, Pick-up ...), 8 = Coupe, 9= Variant
 It should be noted that all numbers can be distinguished in a certain vehicle. The assignment of the number carries out specific parts. A side panel gets, for example, the figure for the rear shape parts in the field switchboard and are referred to the position of the steering wheel, etc.
If the third character is not numeric but of letters, then it must be a derivative or a market-adapted model (e.g. from Mexico, China). These are labeled only for the passenger vehicle sectors. Thecommercial vehicles, on the other hand, is referred to another variants.

END DIGITS

The far left number of the End Digits is literally a counting number. With the same particular part (e.g. window crank), the allocation of this always uses the same final number. Odd numbers ending are retained. Of course, this only applies if the parts are also installed accordingly.
INDEX
The Index is assigned to identify different variants of the same part, such as color variations or different software in ECUs.This may be due to the use of different materials or the installation of the same purchasing parts.Exchange Parts or remanufactured parts are marked with an X.

Color Plate

The Color Indicator specifies the necessary color of the part. This is usually in cladding or trimmed parts of the case; since more than one color is utilized (e.g. in Black, Beige, Brushed Aluminum, Carbon, etc.). GRU are as in that of a primed part, which has yet to be painted.
Standard Parts
Standard parts are i.d.R. which are not marked with the part number. The first six digits are purely counting, the last two digits represent the index. Standard components that are starting 9xx.xxx are similar parts that can not be replaced by a genuine part  from structural point of view. Standard components are  starting with 052.xxx fats, oils, etc. associate.
G = Lubricant, Coolant;
D = Sealant and Adhesive material;
B = Brake fluid and Brake paste
